Today was supposed to be a “simple and low key” day as I was planning on shooting just two events, the Thule Cross-Country Mountain Bike Race and Bouldering World Cup Finals. But, as usual, I somehow managed to walk away with around 3,500 images.
I first ran over to the start of the Thule Cross-Country Mountain Bike Race just in time for the start and headed into towards the woods after the racers took off. I had to walk a good bit of fire road to get to the good stuff but with every step the aspens got prettier. I was getting stoked. I finally got to the good single track after the pros had finished their first lap but was able to shoot the remaining two laps and was rewarded for the walk with the light coming through the aspens.

After a good lunch and rest from the long walk back from the mountain bike race I headed up to the bouldering wall for the finals of the IFSC Bouldering World Cup. I got there 20mins early and there was already a huge crowd that grew into the thousands when the finals started. There were six men and six women climbers in the finals climbing four problems each. The route setters did an awesome job resetting all the problems from the morning’s semi final comp, which is a huge feat, and they killed it. There was a 50% chance of rain all day but it held off which allowed the crowd to really get into the comp and amp up the energy. Great setting, amazing climbers, and a crazy crowd made this the best event yet!

Once again it’s almost 3am and I need some sleep.
Off to shoot more kayaking tomorrow if the weather holds!
